WP6. Integration and Operational Research
The objective of this WP is to bring together, following the directives and topologies of the recommended value chain blueprint(s), all constituent processes, actors, information and materials/equipment into an operating workflow that will form the base for the demonstrator test. The new paradigm for networked manufacturing forces us to research also new models for integration, management, and control of the production (value) chain:
- Establishment of the conceptual and physical architectures necessary to implement the recommended business model(s), creating the necessary toolkits and guides for those business partners who will want to participate in a life-real value chain, should the opportunity arise (opticians, RX-labs, equipment manufacturers, design knowledge suppliers).
- Define and implement the necessary architecture for ensuring the right functioning of the operational chain, ensuring scalability, adaptability to new conditions, robustness and security.
- Defining the new open standards for messaging between applications, which are both, based on existing standards and flexible enough to accommodate future change. This will be achieved by defining broad, inclusive, data structures then profiling them more tightly for use within the demonstrator.
With respect to Integration and Operational Research the planned advance of the current State of the Art are:
- Definition of standards and architectures to enable exchange of Ophthalmic Industry design and manufacturing data among B2B supply-chain participants.
- Development of necessary toolkits that will enable future participants to connect to a flexible, scaleable and easily adaptable network of value-chains.
