WP2. User Input Management
The aim of this package is to develop effective and highly innovative customisation environments that will combine both, automatic and assisted co-design processes. To achieve that we shall develop and structure the knowledge about new concepts of personalized visual systems. This knowledge will be based on user-to-product interaction and on the eyewear sales process. It will be applied in the development of tools to be used to capture user related data, in the creation of a knowledge base for personalized product design, and in the development of tools and techniques to guide users through the design process.
Accordingly, the specific objectives addressed in WP2 are:
- Develop data capture devices and interfaces acceptable by users and opticians. The total number of cap-turing devices will be minimized by combination and integration of the measurement of all necessary user parameters (visual strategy, lens-frame fitting parameters and face morphometrics) into one single device where possible.
- Develop software environments for computer assisted co-design and adapt design processes to end-user characteristics. The result will be an interactive personalization process whereby an end-user is walked through design/selection adapted to his/her individual personality and emotional desires.
- Develop ergonomic design rules for the automatic design process by identifying the parameters relevant to personalization.
Expected advances of the State of the Art will focus on transforming end-user face morphology, and emotional / aesthetic choices into parameters that can be used to automatically design (computer aided) personalized frames. A first capturing device addressing morphological, emotional and aesthetic personalization of frame shapes and decoration will be made.
